Shock your friends this year and wear your mum’s old curtains.

That time is here again where spirits, ghosts and that thing lurking beneath your bed come out and everybody goes a bit dizzy. It’s Halloween! I’m not sure about the whole spirits and ghosts thing but I know for a fact supermarkets and high street stores will be filled to the brim with festive decorations/ costumes and lots and lots of sweets, all tempting you to buy them.

If you’re going to a Halloween party this weekend or trick or treating, you’re probably going to need a costume. You don’t want to end up wearing the same costume as everyone else, so I have a great idea for you. Why not do something different this year and wear a recycled Halloween costume?

I have found some really cool ways you can make your own Halloween costume out of newspapers, curtains and even wire clothes hangers.

There’s no point shelling out all that money on a new costume especially when you know a) everybody will be wearing the same thing and b) You will not wear it again.

Just think of all the things that wouldn’t get thrown away and put in landfill, considering most of the Halloween merchandise comes with a ‘Made in a developing country’ tag.. you would be reducing the amount of ‘stuff’ factory workers have to make and you will look original.

You could get together with your friends to make the costumes and really get in the Halloween spirit of having fun and getting messy.

Remember Halloween is the time for you to dress up as anything besides yourself.

You could ‘just dance’ the night away in this Lady gaga outfit...
