Following on from last week's post on 'Stuff we don't want', written by Tukeni Obasi, an interesting article appeared on the Gyaan Yatra portal which actually challenged what Tukeni's article was saying. It seems that the author thought it is a good thing to send our clothes to Africa, as it creates employment, citing the example of Mitumba in Kenya as an example, where the clothes we send are actually sold and distributed....
The debate gets interesting... should we be sending the stuff we don't want? or is it that we should be buying less? What is the answer?
